Accuracy
Spectrum of Mechanical Engineering and Operational Research (SMEOR) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the research and information presented in their articles, while the journal has a responsibility to respond appropriately when material errors or inaccuracies are identified in published content.
Reporting Errors
Authors, readers, reviewers, editors, and other interested parties are encouraged to inform the Editorial Office if they identify a potential error, omission, or inaccuracy in a published article. Reports should identify the article concerned and provide sufficient information to allow the journal to assess the issue.
Authors who become aware of a significant error, omission, or inaccuracy in their published work should promptly inform the Editorial Office and cooperate with the journal in resolving the matter.
Assessment of Errors
Reported errors will be assessed according to their nature, extent, and potential effect on the accuracy, interpretation, reliability, or conclusions of the published article.
Minor typographical, grammatical, formatting, or production errors that do not affect the scientific meaning, interpretation, metadata, or integrity of an article may not require a formal post-publication notice.
Errors that materially affect the accuracy, interpretation, clarity, or integrity of published information will be addressed through an appropriate and transparent post-publication action.
Author Responsibility
Authors remain responsible for the accuracy and appropriate presentation of the data, analyses, methods, calculations, results, references, figures, tables, interpretations, and conclusions contained in their published work.
Authors are expected to cooperate with reasonable requests from the Editorial Office for clarification, supporting information, source files, data, calculations, or other materials where these are necessary to assess a credible concern regarding the accuracy of a published article, subject to applicable legal, ethical, privacy, confidentiality, and intellectual property restrictions.
Accuracy of the Scholarly Record
SMEOR distinguishes between errors that can be appropriately corrected while the principal findings remain reliable and more serious concerns that may affect the integrity or reliability of the published work.
The journal does not apply an arbitrary time limit to the reporting or assessment of material errors. Relevant concerns may be considered regardless of how much time has elapsed since publication.
Where an identified issue raises concerns extending beyond an ordinary error and indicates possible research or publication misconduct, the matter will be considered under the journal's applicable publication ethics policies.
Post-Publication Action
Where an error materially affects a published article but the principal findings remain reliable, an appropriate Correction may be issued. Where concerns substantially affect the reliability or integrity of the published work, other post-publication action may be necessary.
Formal post-publication actions, including Corrections, Expressions of Concern, Retractions, and article removal in exceptional circumstances, are governed by the journal's Retraction and Correction Policies.
