Basic Aspects of Transparency
Spectrum of Mechanical Engineering and Operational Research (SMEOR) is committed to transparency in research reporting, editorial processes, funding, authorship, and scholarly publishing. Information that may reasonably affect the interpretation, evaluation, reproducibility, or credibility of published research should be disclosed clearly and accurately.
The journal's general requirements concerning transparency, author responsibilities, research integrity, and editorial conduct form part of its Publication Ethics Statement.
Funding and Financial Support
Authors must disclose all sources of funding and financial support relevant to the research and, where applicable, to the preparation or publication of the manuscript. Funding sources may include research councils, universities, government agencies, commercial organizations, foundations, charities, international organizations, or other public or private bodies.
Where applicable, authors should provide the official name of the funding organization and the relevant grant or project number. Funding information must be presented accurately and consistently in the manuscript and during the submission process.
If the research received no specific external funding, authors should include an appropriate statement, such as:
Funding: This research received no external funding.
Role of the Funder
Where a funder or sponsor had a material role in the design of the study, collection of data, analysis or interpretation of results, preparation of the manuscript, or decision to submit the work for publication, this involvement must be clearly disclosed.
Where the funder had no such involvement, authors may state:
The funder had no role in the design of the study; collection, analysis, or interpretation of the data; preparation of the manuscript; or decision to submit the article for publication.
Financial support or sponsorship must not compromise the independence of scholarly or editorial decision-making. The journal's requirements concerning independence from commercial, financial, institutional, or other inappropriate influence are provided in the Editorial Independence policy.
Other Forms of Support
Authors should disclose relevant non-financial, technical, material, or administrative support received in connection with the research where appropriate. This may include access to equipment, software, datasets, materials, facilities, technical assistance, computational resources, administrative support, or other resources provided by third parties.
Individuals or organizations that contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged, subject to any applicable consent, confidentiality, or other requirements.
Transparency of Authorship and Author Information
Authors are responsible for providing complete and accurate information concerning authorship, affiliations, corresponding author details, funding, acknowledgements, conflicts of interest, and other metadata required during submission and publication.
The published authorship must accurately represent the individuals responsible for the scholarly work. Individuals who do not satisfy the journal's applicable authorship requirements must not be included as authors, and individuals who satisfy those requirements should not be inappropriately omitted.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that information concerning their institutional affiliations and other publication metadata is accurate at the time of submission and appropriately updated where necessary during the editorial process.
Broader requirements concerning authorship, author responsibilities, originality, and accountability are provided in the journal's Publication Ethics Statement.
Conflicts of Interest and Transparency
Funding disclosure does not replace the requirement to disclose conflicts of interest. Authors must separately declare financial, professional, personal, academic, institutional, or other relevant relationships or interests that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, the research, its interpretation, or its presentation.
Detailed requirements concerning disclosure and management of author, editor, and reviewer conflicts are provided in the journal's Conflict of Interests policy.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all funding, support, acknowledgements, conflicts-of-interest declarations, and related disclosures provided to SMEOR are complete and accurate.
Transparency of Research Reporting
Authors should report their research with sufficient clarity, completeness, and transparency to permit appropriate scholarly evaluation. Where applicable, manuscripts should provide relevant information concerning research methods, data sources, analytical and computational procedures, experimental conditions, model assumptions, software, ethical approvals, informed consent, data availability, limitations, and other matters necessary for understanding and evaluating the work.
Methods, analyses, computational procedures, simulations, and numerical experiments should be described with sufficient detail to allow readers to understand how the reported results were obtained and, where reasonably possible, to support verification or reproducibility.
Authors must not knowingly omit, obscure, falsify, or misrepresent information where doing so could materially affect the interpretation, evaluation, or reliability of the research.
Serious concerns involving false or misleading information, fabrication, falsification, inappropriate authorship, peer-review manipulation, citation manipulation, or other research or publication misconduct are handled under the journal's applicable publication ethics procedures.
Transparency of Editorial and Publishing Practices
SMEOR seeks to make its principal editorial and publishing policies publicly accessible and clearly communicated. Information concerning peer review, publication ethics, editorial independence, conflicts of interest, open access, copyright and licensing, publication charges where applicable, corrections and retractions, complaints and appeals, digital preservation, and other principal journal practices should be available through the journal's website.
Editorial decisions concerning individual manuscripts are based on scholarly and editorial considerations and should remain independent of commercial, financial, institutional, personal, or other inappropriate external influence. Further requirements are provided in the journal's Editorial Independence policy.
Complaints concerning editorial procedures or appeals against editorial decisions are addressed under the journal's Procedures for Dealing with Complaints and Appeals.
Transparency of Changes to Journal Policies
Material changes to the journal's editorial or publishing policies should be communicated transparently. Where reasonably possible, changes that materially affect authors should not be applied retrospectively in a manner that unfairly alters the conditions under which a manuscript was submitted.
Accuracy and Updating of Disclosures
Authors are responsible for ensuring that declarations and disclosures submitted to the journal are complete and accurate. If relevant information changes, or if an omission or material inaccuracy is identified during the editorial process, authors should inform the Editorial Office promptly.
If a material omission or inaccurate disclosure is identified after publication, SMEOR will assess whether clarification, correction, or another appropriate post-publication action is necessary to maintain the accuracy and transparency of the scholarly record.
Where formal amendment of a published article is necessary, any Correction, Expression of Concern, Retraction, or other appropriate action will be handled in accordance with the journal's Retraction and Correction Policies.
